Ver\u00adsi\u00adon 20 is more than just a new ver\u00adsi\u00adon. V20 is the future of 3CX. With V20, we have rede\u00adsi\u00adgned 3CX from the ground up \u2013 rea\u00addy for cur\u00adrent and future mar\u00adket requirements.<\/p>\n\n

Ori\u00adgi\u00adnal\u00adly, 3CX was desi\u00adgned for on-site instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon (tele\u00adpho\u00adne systems only) and aimed at small and medi\u00adum-sized com\u00adpa\u00adnies. At a time when hard\u00adly anyo\u00adne used SIP trunks and ever\u00adyo\u00adne still had a fax.<\/p>\n\n

Over time, we have of cour\u00adse added a Linux ver\u00adsi\u00adon and cloud sup\u00adport. Our system found many lar\u00adger cus\u00adto\u00admers who used it at seve\u00adral loca\u00adti\u00adons and with a lar\u00adge num\u00adber of users. The\u00adre was also the requi\u00adre\u00adment to add SMS, live chat and Whats\u00adApp to pro\u00advi\u00adde true omnich\u00adan\u00adnel sup\u00adport for modern cont\u00adact cen\u00adters. Our smal\u00adler cus\u00adto\u00admers \u2013 4SC free and com\u00admer\u00adcial \u2013 con\u00adtin\u00adued to have dedi\u00adca\u00adted instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons, but as the need for more fre\u00adquent secu\u00adri\u00adty updates increa\u00adsed, mana\u00adging indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal instances beca\u00adme an over\u00adhead for 3CX, part\u00adners and admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtors. A mul\u00adti-instance ver\u00adsi\u00adon of 3CX was requi\u00adred and introduced.<\/p>\n\n

Ver\u00adsi\u00adon 20 has a com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly new admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adti\u00adon con\u00adso\u00adle. It is cal\u00adled \u201cAdmin Con\u00adso\u00adle\u201d and is now part of the 3CX cli\u00adent. Users can switch direct\u00adly from the 3CX cli\u00adent to the admin con\u00adso\u00adle wit\u00adhout the need for a sepa\u00adra\u00adte log\u00adin or URL.<\/p>\n\n

We have taken the oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adty to moder\u00adni\u00adze the enti\u00adre 3CX admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adti\u00adon inter\u00adface and focus on func\u00adtions that are rele\u00advant today. We have sim\u00adpli\u00adfi\u00aded the con\u00adfi\u00adgu\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon of many advan\u00adced functions.<\/p>\n\n

With the rem\u00adoval of the admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adti\u00adon con\u00adso\u00adle, two admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor types dis\u00adap\u00adpear: Root admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor and hosting admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor. The\u00adse \u201cinvi\u00adsi\u00adble\u201d users had no audit logs and the\u00adr\u00ade\u00adfo\u00adre had to opt for a system admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor or remo\u00adte admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor. The remo\u00adte admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor role is reser\u00adved for off-site admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adti\u00adon, for exam\u00adp\u00adle by a partner.<\/p>\n\n

Groups beco\u00adme depart\u00adments and more efficient<\/h2>\n\n

A lar\u00adge part of V20 is the new depart\u00adments. Divi\u00adsi\u00adons replace groups, as the\u00adse more accu\u00adra\u00adte\u00adly repre\u00adsent what they are. In Win\u00addows Acti\u00adve Direc\u00adto\u00adry, the\u00adse depart\u00adments are refer\u00adred to as orga\u00adnizatio\u00adnal units. The\u00adse depart\u00adments are now much more powerful \u2013 they can set their own office hours, holi\u00addays, time zones and lan\u00adguage set\u00adtings. Soon they will also have their own tele\u00adpho\u00adne book and CRM con\u00adfi\u00adgu\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon, among other things.<\/p>\n\n

Users who are mem\u00adbers of a group inhe\u00adrit the\u00adse set\u00adtings auto\u00adma\u00adti\u00adcal\u00adly. Gone are the glo\u00adbal office hours. This makes con\u00adfi\u00adgu\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon and admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adti\u00adon much easier for lar\u00adger instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adons. Indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal exten\u00adsi\u00adons may con\u00adti\u00adn\u00adue to have prio\u00adri\u00adty over the depart\u00adment\u00ad\u2019s ope\u00adning hours.<\/p>\n\n

Depart\u00adments are also the basis of our new secu\u00adri\u00adty: you can use depart\u00adments and roles to defi\u00adne aut\u00adho\u00adrizati\u00adons in more detail. For exam\u00adp\u00adle, you could have a \u201cSales\u201d depart\u00adment that has its own admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor who is respon\u00adsi\u00adble for user manage\u00adment and IVRs. In addi\u00adti\u00adon to users, you can make any system exten\u00adsi\u00adon or exch\u00adan\u00adge line a mem\u00adber of a group. Exch\u00adan\u00adge lines are valid system-wide by default.<\/p>\n\n

Remem\u00adber that the secu\u00adri\u00adty roles are assi\u00adgned to each group to which a user belongs. So if your default group con\u00adta\u00adins all users and you make someone the group admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtor, he\/she can mana\u00adge all users.<\/p>\n\n

If you are not inte\u00adre\u00adsted in using depart\u00adments, you can sim\u00adply stick to the one stan\u00addard group that every instal\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon of 3CX has. IVRs and other system exten\u00adsi\u00adons are part of this stan\u00addard group \u2013 by default!<\/p>\n\n

New easy-to-remem\u00adber URL<\/h2>\n\n

Now that the cli\u00adent and admin con\u00adso\u00adle are mer\u00adged into one site, we can have an easy to remem\u00adber FQDN for users and admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtors. The web cli\u00adent slug is no lon\u00adger requi\u00adred, for example:<\/p>\n\n

With the new, easy-to-remem\u00adber FQDN and the abili\u00adty for users to set their own pass\u00adword or use SSO, the\u00adre is less reli\u00adance on the wel\u00adco\u00adme email. Admi\u00adni\u00adstra\u00adtors do not have to resend wel\u00adco\u00adme e\u2011mails to users.<\/p>\n\n

New nati\u00adve Win\u00addows softphone<\/h2>\n\n

One of the big\u00adgest inno\u00adva\u00adtions is a new nati\u00adve 3CX Win\u00addows soft\u00adphone. This is an app simi\u00adlar to the iOS or Android app, which is exe\u00adcu\u00adted in con\u00adjunc\u00adtion with the web cli\u00adent. The nati\u00adve soft\u00adphone over\u00adco\u00admes a num\u00adber of limi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons of PWA in terms of con\u00adtrol\u00adling win\u00addow noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adti\u00adons. Instead of a simp\u00adle call noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon, a real ans\u00adwer dia\u00adlog is dis\u00adplay\u00aded. In addi\u00adti\u00adon, a nati\u00adve soft\u00adphone enables brow\u00adser-inde\u00adpen\u00addent audio control.<\/p>\n\n

Secu\u00adre deployment via the Micro\u00adsoft Store<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The big dif\u00adfe\u00adrence to the cur\u00adrent nati\u00adve app is that it is deli\u00adver\u00aded via the Win\u00addows Store \u2013 this means much more secu\u00adri\u00adty from the start: every nati\u00adve Win\u00addows app is checked for secu\u00adri\u00adty by Micro\u00adsoft, so we can avo\u00adid situa\u00adtions like befo\u00adre. This also means that we can update the soft\u00adphone sepa\u00adra\u00adte\u00adly from the main 3CX build for bet\u00adter mana\u00adgea\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty. The soft\u00adware app is limi\u00adt\u00aded to call and essen\u00adti\u00adal PBX func\u00adtions, just like you have in the iOS or Android app. With the 3CX soft\u00adphone, the elec\u00adtro\u00adnics-based desk\u00adtop app is no lon\u00adger required.<\/p>\n\n

New Call Mana\u00adger (SIP server)<\/h2>\n\n
